A durable operations foundation

Events and activations became the shared context connecting staffing, ICS-214 activity, roles, permissions, audit history, and shelter operations.

One operational context

Instead of allowing each module to invent its own activation record, NextGenEM uses a durable operational event that can connect people, positions, permissions, activity, and specialized operational modules.

Shelter operations as the reference workflow

Countywide Shelter Operations provides a real-world proving ground for activation status, census history, capacity, municipality filtering, role-based actions, and closure safeguards. It is being validated in NextGenEM before an approved workflow is adapted to WebEOC.

What we are building now

The Events and Activations workspace is being rebuilt as an operational command surface with live registry filters, lifecycle visibility, staffing context, connected modules, and a clear audit timeline.
